Arthur / Merlin modern AU meme: Arthur’s return
It’s been a while since Arthur’s come back to the world, but it’s still a shock for him. Everyone he used to know and love is long gone. Everyone but Merlin. The boy has tried to give him time and space, knowing the difficulties he might be facing, having lost many centuries of life. But Merlin’s suffering too. Arthur is so upset that he can’t even appreciate the love Merlin’s showing him every day… and he won’t even remember that their love was more significant than a simple friendship.
One day, Merlin decides it’s time to change that and start living for real: if he can’t re-build his memories, than he can let him fall in love for him again. A lovely breakfast, sweet duet melodies at the piano, long walks or readings in the park and slowly Arthur starts to love once more.
Finally, during a normal stroll, just like thousand others they have made at sunset, ther hands touch and intertwine… Looking truly in Merlin’s eyes, Arthur can feel that shiver, that makes him feel alive again. And the whole world starts to turn and disappear, while he finally kiss his lover in the middle of the street, free from memories and prejudices.

Merlin’s Delivery Service AU » Following ancient tradition, the young warlock Merlin Emrys left his quiet hometown of Ealdor in search of a new place where he could train and develop his magical skills. Upon his flight in search of a new home, he came across the bustling seaside city of Camelot. Though the city wasn’t very welcoming at the sight of a warlock, he managed to meet a few kind people, including a girl named Gwen who owned a bakery. She allowed Merlin to stay with her as long as he used his skills to be the new delivery boy.
On Merlin’s daily runs he always seemed to run into an eccentric boy riding his bike named Arthur, an aviation lover who was completely entranced by Merlin and his magic. He never left Merlin alone, always pestering him about flying and things. The two eventually grew to be friends and slowly but surely the cityfolk grew to accept Merlin as their town warlock.
Merthur Era Au: If Merlin Emrys had followed his first impression of Arthur Pendragon, he would have forever seen him as a pretentious, overbearing uniform-raised son of one of America’s most corrupt political families. However, the young California flower child of the 1960s would soon grow to see Arthur as a kindred free soul, two boys desperate to release themselves from conventional society and free their spirits. From music festivals to peace rallies, listening to records by the Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix and painting words of the revolution on the walls of the San Fran loft, Merlin came to see Arthur for the flowers in his golden hair, and the bruises on his collarbone from where he’d let his mouth wander too long.
